Andreas’ Blocks – A Simple-Looking Puzzle with a Clever Twist

At first glance, Andreas’ Blocks looks surprisingly straightforward: just three cubes that need to be assembled into one beautiful, compact shape with no gaps left between the pieces. But once you start trying to put them together, you’ll quickly discover that it’s much trickier than it looks.

The puzzle was designed by Andreas Röver and was inspired by Oskar van Deventer’s Cubes puzzle from 1985. Oskar’s original puzzle wasn’t particularly difficult to solve, so Andreas made a few clever changes to the cubes—and suddenly the puzzle became much more challenging.

With only three parts, it feels like the solution should be obvious. You can see how the pieces should fit together, but actually getting them into the correct position is another story. There is a very clever move involved, and discovering it may take you quite some time.
