INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION is a clever and surprisingly difficult packing puzzle designed by dr. Volker Latussek.
The puzzle consists of 8 different pieces and a box. The goal sounds simple: fit all the pieces inside the box so that nothing sticks out. But as with many great packing puzzles, the simple goal quickly becomes a serious challenge.
The design has a strong mathematical idea behind it. Each piece is made using only lengths of 1, 2, and 3, and according to the designer, this may be the only possible way to create such a cube. The solution is unique, which makes the puzzle even more satisfying once you finally find it.
This is not an easy puzzle. While solving it, you may often end up with one last piece that does not fit at all — not even close. That is exactly what makes the final solution so rewarding.
