Inverse Marble Hex turns the familiar idea of a marble run completely upside down. Instead of watching a marble travel through an empty track, the entire track is completely filled with 9 mm steel marbles.
Remove a single marble from the bottom and something fascinating happens: you create a hole. As gravity pulls the marbles down one by one, that empty space appears to travel upward through the entire structure. In other words, the marbles move down, but the hole moves up.
The track follows an intricate fractal hexagonal pattern, with the marbles changing direction by 60° at every turn. This geometry isn’t just for looks — it allows each marble to gently push the next one forward while the high walls and steep track keep everything moving smoothly without the marbles jumping out.
It’s a mesmerizing mechanical object that is just as much fun to watch as it is to operate. Drop the process into motion, follow the empty space as it works its way through the maze, then reset it and do it all over again.
