Welcome to the Wild West, where nine outlaws are locked behind bars — and it’s your job to set them free.

Jailbreak is a large sequential discovery puzzle designed by Jeroen Kruit of 2222pzzls. The puzzle is built around a Wild West jail containing 9 individual cells, each apparently secured with its own lock. Somewhere inside, nine outlaws are waiting to be discovered.

Your goal sounds simple:

Find and free all 9 outlaws.

But this is a sequential discovery puzzle, so nothing is quite as straightforward as it first appears. You’ll need to carefully examine the jail, discover hidden mechanisms, figure out how different elements interact, and use what you uncover along the way to progress further into the puzzle.

There are no external tools required, no excessive force, and no hitting or banging — everything you need to complete your jailbreak is already part of the puzzle.

The design itself makes Jailbreak especially impressive. Standing 205 mm tall and weighing 740 g, it looks like a miniature Wild West jail, complete with nine barred cell doors, oversized keyholes, wood-grain walls, side windows and a large JAILBREAK sign across the top.

Jeroen has created many fantastic sequential discovery puzzles, but Jailbreak is, in my opinion, one of his best creations so far. The combination of theme, presentation and discovery makes it feel less like simply solving a puzzle and more like working your way through a miniature mechanical adventure.

The Wild West is full of outlaws locked behind bars. Only a clever mind can set them free.
