Nugget puzzle - Limited Edition – Original IPP43 Exchange Puzzle by Oskar van Deventer
Only 7 copies remain from the original series designed and produced by Oskar van Deventer.
At first glance, Nugget looks like a rough piece of gold trapped inside a stone. Your objective is simple: remove the golden nugget from the rock.
The challenge, however, is far from obvious.
Despite its organic appearance, Nugget is based on elegant mathematical geometry. The golden nugget is a modified rhombic triacontahedron, while the opening in the stone is a modified decagon. The solution requires careful observation and spatial reasoning to discover the one orientation that allows the nugget to pass through the opening.
There are no hidden mechanisms, no moving parts, and absolutely no force required. The puzzle relies entirely on understanding the shape and finding the correct orientation. Once discovered, gravity does the rest.
Originally created as an exchange puzzle for the International Puzzle Party (IPP), Nugget is a beautiful example of Oskar van Deventer's ability to transform mathematical concepts into elegant mechanical puzzles.
