Pentomino DOT - Pentomino based packing puzzle
This is a very clever twist on a classic pentomino puzzle.
At first glance, Pentomino DOT looks like a simple packing challenge in a round box. And honestly? Packing the pieces back into the circular shape is not the hard part. The shapes themselves give away where they belong.
But that’s not where the trick is.
Designed by dr. Volker Latussek and Oskar van Deventer, this puzzle hides a surprisingly clever concept. The pentomino pieces are squeezed into a circular shape through a tiny opening. Once all pieces are inside, the entire assembled shape can rotate freely inside the frame.
And that changes everything.
Rotate it the wrong way, and the puzzle locks itself in place. To remove the pieces again, you need to figure out the correct orientation and understand how the mechanism works.
It’s a beautiful “aha!” style puzzle — simple to understand, clever in execution, and very satisfying once you realize what’s happening.
A great pick for puzzle lovers who appreciate smart design over pure difficulty.
