Soma Shaker is an invention by Volker Latussek. It has a 3x3x3 cage that telescopes into a 3x3x4 cage. This telescoping action opens the hole such that the pieces can be removed. The goal of the puzzle is to put the seven Soma pieces back into the 3x3x4 cage into a cube, and then push the cage back to 3x3x3. The puzzle comes with a "packing solution" that fits inside the 3x3x4 cage, but without being able to close it to 3x3x3. The name of the puzzle refers to the looseness of the pieces when the cage is at 3x3x4, when one can shake all the Soma pieces up and down.
