Strawberry Cake puzzle - Birthday desert with a twist
At its core, this is a deceptively rich packing puzzle hidden inside a playful birthday-cake theme.
If you completely ignore the visual design (the strawberries and the cake bases) and focus only on the shapes, the puzzle actually has 36 different geometric solutions that fit perfectly into the tray.
But this puzzle has a twist.
Each element is made of two separate parts – a small cake base and a strawberry. Once you care about how the cake should really look, most of those 36 solutions immediately become wrong. The block fits, but the strawberries and cake bases end up mixed in an unnatural way, creating a weird-looking “cake”.
The real challenge is therefore not just to build a shape that fits —
it’s to find an arrangement where the shapes fit and the cake still looks like a proper, delicious slice.
Designed by Lucie Pauwels, this puzzle turns a clean geometric packing problem into a charming and surprisingly tricky visual challenge.
