Nine helmeted Vikings are ready to take their places inside the shield — but fitting them all in is much harder than it looks.
The goal is simple: pack all nine Vikings completely inside the shield. The unusual shape of their horned helmets makes arranging the pieces surprisingly challenging, as the horns constantly get in the way of what otherwise seem like promising combinations.
Eight Vikings fit inside remarkably well. In fact, they fit so naturally that you may start wondering whether there is actually enough room for the ninth one at all. Every attempt seems to leave that last Viking standing outside the shield.
There is a way to fit all nine. The challenge is figuring out the clever arrangement that makes it possible.
