WWW Cube. Can You Pack Them All?
The WWW Cube is a challenging packing puzzle inspired by a design by George Miller.
George discovered that 36 identical W-pentominoes could be packed inside a 6 × 6 × 5 box. His original puzzle has two solutions: one symmetrical and one asymmetrical. Oskar van Deventer took this idea and compressed it into a cube, transforming the familiar W-shaped pieces in the process.
Because of this distortion, the pieces are no longer identical. Each piece also contains holes that must fit over the 30 pegs built into the base, creating three different types of pieces. Finding space for all 36 pieces is only part of the challenge—you must also carefully match every hole with the correct peg.
The result is a highly unusual and demanding packing puzzle with a striking final shape. The many similar-looking pieces make it difficult to know where to begin, while the internal peg structure greatly restricts how each piece can be positioned.
Goal: Fit all 36 pieces over the pegs to form a complete cube.
